THE sounds of Sibelius filled the air over Bromyard last month when a choir from Athari in Finland returned last year's visit by Bromyard & District Choral Society.
The three-day visit over the weekend of July 26 was a little hampered by the weather, which managed to put paid to any ideas of picnicking on British Camp. A tour of the Elgar trail on the Saturday led to an evening gathering of 80 Finnish and English choristers who, together, enjoyed an excellent meal and impromptu concert at the Falcon Hotel.
Sunday saw a meeting up with the choir of St Peter's for a service of music and devotions fitting for David Huke's retirement service.
The New Public Hall was the venue for further entertainment on Sunday evening before the choir was tearfully waved off from Tenbury Road car park on Monday morning. A parting song from the Fins provided and emotional ending to a wonderful few days.
