A PENSIONER visiting a Wedding Festival in Leominster was overjoyed to discover the gown she wore at her wedding in Stafford 55 years ago.
Miriam Roberts, who now lives in Leominster, was amazed when she saw her bridal gown on display at the Priory Church.
She had to bring her husband Owen, a former Baptist minister, to confirm her discovery.
The couple had to wait a year for the wedding dress to be brought from the United States by Miriam's American mother. The white gown dress was later used as a Fairy Queen's dress before Miriam donated it to a collector in response to an advertisement in a magazine. She never expected to see it again.
"The couple were overjoyed to be briefly reunited at the Priory with this reminder of their great occasion," said church spokeswoman Anna Quelch.
The festival, which featured wedding dresses from the last century and displays by photographers and make-up consultants, helped to raise funds for a new children's area in the church and for repairs to windows.
