Police in Ledbury are warning pensioners to be on their guard for bogus callers after an Albert Road woman had a large quantity of cash stolen by someone offering to check her drains.
The incident took place around 10.15am on Wednesday, June 11.
The man said he was fitting a kitchen next door but had noticed a smell from her drains. He offered to check the drains for free but asked to see the woman's pension book.
She declined and he went away. When she went back in the house she noticed that her front door was open.
Police believe a second person entered the house and search cupboards and drawers.
The man who knocked the door is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s. He was about 5ft 6 inches tall and clean shaven. He was wearing a grey jumper.
