THE A49 was closed for five hours after two cars collided in a serious accident near the Pengethley Hotel on Sunday.
Two people were injured in the crash - a 60-year-old female driving a yellow Suzuki Wagon R+ towards Ross-on-Wye and a male driver in a blue Peugeot 306 travelling in the opposite direction towards Hereford. The female driver was taken by air ambulance to Hereford County Hospital suffering from chest, leg and arm injuries and has remained there for observations.
An ambulance was needed to take the male driver to Hereford County Hospital, where he was treated for neck injuries.
Hereford police have appealed to anyone who saw the collision to call PC Colin Kerfoot on 08457 444888.
