AN extraordinary meeting is being held to discuss the implications of a new £1 million-plus river bridge at Bridge Sollars.
Some local people have expressed concerns that when the bridge is completed next Spring, link roads will be free to take heavy goods lorries.
For some years the old bridge has been limited to a three tonne maximum, but the new one will have no such restriction.
Locals say many of the surrounding roads are very narrow and not suitable for heavy lorries.
Meetings have taken place with the Golden Valley Liaison Group with some people seeking traffic calming measures to be put in place.
Passing bays, improved visibility and speed cameras have all been suggested.
Now a meeting has been fixed for Thursday, June 26 at Madley Village Hall starting a 7-30pm to consider some of the options for restricted areas on either side of the bridge suggested by Herefordshire Council's transportation department.
Liaison Group chairman Councillor David Taylor urged people to turn up to discuss the options so that any action needed could be taken before the new bridge is open.
