JAMES Bond's real 'Q' is to be celebrated alongside county World War Two spy Violette Szabo.
The late Charles Fraser-Smith, a civil servant who became a secret inventor, was the man immortalised by Ian Fleming in his books.
His wife, Selina Fraser-Smith will be guest speaker at Violette Szabo's Third Memorial Annual Picnic at Cartref, Wormelow, on Sunday, June 22 at 2pm.
She will talk about the work of the wartime gadget wizard who's first order was to produce 100 Spanish uniforms for Special Operations Executive agents like Violette.
Amongst his other inventions were tunic buttons containing a compass or, rarely, an explosive charge and maps printed on handkerchiefs in invisible ink, which had to be developed in urine.
The picnic has been organised by Rosemary Rigby at her home where a museum also commemorates Violette. Visitors are invited to bring sandwiches and cakes for a pooled picnic.
She will host celebrations again on Saturday, June 26, when she marks Violette's birthday. Fans can also watch the war heroine's film 'Carve Her Name With Pride' at The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford on June 20 and June 21.
