A HEREFORDSHIRE JP who has helped administer justice in the county for 27 years has been honoured with an MBE for his services.
Daniel Morgan began keeping the peace in Herefordshire and Worcestershire in 1976 when he sat on the Hereford City Bench and at 66 is still an active magistrate.
"I am absolutely thrilled, delighted and honoured to receive the MBE which I accept on behalf of the Bench and the team that have done so much to progress the administration of justice in Herefordshire over the last quarter of a century," said Mr Morgan.
He was formerly chairman of Hereford City Bench where he sat for the last two years of its existence before the amalgamation of the three Herefordshire benches in 1993, for which he was honoured to be the first chairman.
Paying tribute, Nick Jones, Justices chief executive for West Mercia Magistrates Courts, said: "Without his leadership it's unlikely there would be a new court in Hereford."
