SWIFT response from Hereford firefighters and a timely 999 call from a member of the public saved a potentially dangerous fire from threatening buildings around Cathedral Close.
Two fire engines were called to a three-storey house next to SPCK bookshop in Palace Yard at around 1pm last Friday.
Fire-fighters used a hose reel and two breathing apparatus to tackle the third-floor fire.
Station Officer Paul Liddell said: "The crew did a fantastic job. They had the fire out in minutes''
