A Hereford man has played a key role in the production of a controversial fly-on-the-wall documentary that is set to re-ignite 'The Cheriegate Affair'.
Former Hereford Cathedral School pupil, Alex Holmes is the executive producer of the documentary, 'The Conman, his Lover and the Prime Minister's wife', due to be screened tonight (February 20) at 9pm on BBC1.
Hereford born and bred, 35-year-old Alex's roots are still firmly based in the city with his parents still settled in Cantilupe Street, Hereford.
Following his days at Hereford Cathedral School, Alex attended Cambridge University before spending some years working for various independent production companies.
His break came when he worked on 'World in Action' for Granada television before continuing his career producing dramas and a feature film as well as documentaries for the BBC.
Alex's drama, 'Nice Girl' received a Bafta as did his film 'Last Resort' which also won the Michael Powell Award for the Best British Feature Film at the Edinburgh Film Festival as well as accolades world-wide.
When quizzed on his latest controversial work, Alex said: "There was a lot of media interest. It was a media story to start with about what it is like to be at the centre of a media storm so we were not surprised it generated some interest.
"But the level of that interest has surprised us."
Alex's next project involves developing a drama about the evacuation of Dunkirk and he aims to start filming this summer.
