LIEUTENANT Colonel Philip Wilson of the Royal Marines has been presented with the MBE by HRH The Prince of Wales at Buckingham Palace.
Lt. Col. Wilson, who lives in Ross-on-Wye, received the honour for his work as the Chief of Staff military advisor and training team for central eastern Europe, based in the Czech Republic.
Since joining the Royal Marines in September 1968, Lt. Col. Wilson has enjoyed a varied and interesting career.
He has seen service in Northern Ireland and was company commander for 42 Commando during the Falklands Conflict in 1982.
He was the last commandant of the Royal Marines School of Music in Deal, Kent, prior to its closure in 1996.
Until 2000 he served at the Supreme HQ Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Brussels before his current appointment in the Czech Republic.
Lt. Col. Wilson has many interests including golf, with a 19 handicap, reading, keeping fit and spending time with his family.
