TWELVE swimmers from Ledbury & District ASC competed in the Worcester County Sprints at Wolver-hampton.
Laura West, Jamie Dunn and Hywel Pothecary all received awards for finishing in the fastest eight.
Laura won a bronze medal in the 15/16 years 50m fly and finished in fifth place in both the 100m Individual Medley and 50m backstroke. Jamie finished fourth in the 15/16 years boys 50m freestyle and fifth in the 100m Individual Medley. Hywel was fifth in the 13/14 years boys 100m Individual Medley and sixth in the 50m freestyle. In his own year group he was the fastest in the freestyle and has subsequently been selected to represent the Worcester County team at an inter-counties gala at Ponds Forge, Sheffield in October.
Coach Viv Jones said: "This was a tough meet for us as we had only been back to full training for a fortnight. I was delighted that every swimmer achieved at least one personal best time out of a total of 22.
"We are a very small club compared to the others with much less water time available to us, just to manage the qualifying times for such an event is an achievement and then to have three swimmers gain awards is wonderful. Obviously I am extremely proud of Hywel's county selection and all the club wish him well at the event."
Other participants were Sarah Bethell, Pippa Collins, Lucinda Houghton, Lucy Bennion, Chloe Watson, Amy Tyler, Susan Pudge, Mark Hinton and Luke Rycroft.
