TOWN'S midweek League match on Wednesday could not have been more testing than an away fixture at League leaders Star who had won 6-0 away at Heath Hayes the previous Saturday.
STAR 3, Ledbury TOWN 0
The Ledbury team however kept their formation well and played some good football as both teams created chances in a scoreless first half.
The second half started where the first left off with both sides battling hard for supremacy and again Ledbury created chances but could just not score.
They were made to pay in the 70th minute when Star broke through a gap in the Town defence and Ollie Gough fired in a shot that gave Ledbury keeper Hollingshead no chance.
This inspired Star to play some of their best football of the game and another goal soon followed for Dave Martin.
Then their top goal scorer Gareth Horler showed his abilty to score a good individual goal after a Ledbury handling error had presented him with the ball.
For the rest of the game Star didn't need to do anything else but Ledbury couldn't break them down even when they introduced the fresh young legs of Toan Ravenscroft, Chris Grubb and Jon Ralph.
Lebury however are starting to show signs of getting together and just need a bit of luck in front of goal.
Town squad: Rory Hollingshead, Chris Powell, Ian Forshaw, Lee Clueit, Dean Henman, Pete Brown, Ian James, Stu Smith, Mark Herbert, Nick Stockley, Nick Welch, Toan Ravenscroft, Jon Ralph, Chris Grubb, Paul Wilband and Ian Merrick.
Ledbury Town are due to play a League game at home to Smethwick tomorrow (Saturday) but negotiations have been going on for an earlier kick-off time and supporters are advised to contact the club.
