FORMER Hereford United manager John Layton has returned to the city following the postponement of the South Asian Games due to the political situation after the terrorist attack on New York.
Layton has been working with the Pakistan Under-23 squad but left that country on Friday on a plane chartered by the British Government to evacuate diplomats' families and other embassy staff.
"I am still under contract with the Asian Football Federation and, along with the rest of the world, am waiting to see what develops in that part of the world before deciding what happens next," he said.
Layton added: "The competition has now been cancelled until next year, which is a pity because most of the young players had gained valuable experience in the World Cup qualifiers."
