WOOFFERTON, Pegasus and Civil Service are now neck and neck at the top of the Premier Division of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League.
Unbeaten Woofferton were happy to collect a point from a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Wellington, who struck the woodwork and had a last-gasp effort scrambled off the line.
Wellington dominated the first half, flooding the midfield and causing problems for the visitors, without finding a way past goalkeeper Dave Cooper.
Wellington deservedly broke the deadlock with a free header in the 55th minute but the goal sparked Woofferton into life. The visitors pushed forward and were rewarded when Mark Tonkinson flicked on a Dale Withers left-wing cross for Adrian Taylor to head home.
Both sides battled hard for a winner, with Wellington missing the two best chances.
James Howard netted twice and David Goode also found the target in Pegasus' 3-0 win at Sutton United.
When Howard and Goode scored in the opening 13 minutes Pegasus threatened to overwhelm the home side, who defended ruggedly until the interval.
Pegasus goalkeeper Scott Russell, however, was forced to make a couple of magnificent stops after the break before Howard scored the clincher with a superb finish.
Civil Service, who extended their unbeaten record, ran out 6-4 winners in an action-packed clash at Weston.
Weston took the lead through Paul Burnham and then Shaun McManus equalised with 40-yard strike. Civil Service went 4-1 ahead with goals from Harry Magee, Mark Conn and Steve Gosling.
Weston, who were then always trailing, added a second from Graham Jones and he and Burnham were on target again, while Civil Service's other marksmen were Luke Gosling and Lee Holdacre.
In-form marksman Stan Jones snapped up a hat-trick in Ewyas Harold's convincing 5-1 win at bottom club Leominster.
Gareth Thomas opened Harold's account, Ben Corner bagged a second and Jones struck three times to cement their comfortable victory.
Struggling Fownhope slipped to a 2-1 reverse at Hinton, despite Damon Hollingshead's magnificent individual strike.
Roy Oval almost gave Fownhope an early lead, firing narrowly wide, but it was Hinton who struck first on 25 minutes when Paul Ingram tapped the ball home from close range.
Hollingshead grabbed a splendid equaliser for injury-hit Fownhope five minutes into the second period, skipping past two players and hitting a scorching low drive into the bottom corner.
Although Fownhope pressed for a winner with Trevor Hilling rattling the woodwork, Hinton snatched the points with a headed goal 10 minutes from time.
Ross United Services chalked up their first win of the campaign with a 3-2 win at Westfields.
Although Westfields took the lead through John Williams, the visitors stormed back, scoring three times without reply. Williams scored again for Westfields to reduce the deficit, but Ross held on.
