COLIN Amos struck twice to earn Hereford a hard-fought 2-2 friendly draw at Cardiff.
The young and skilful Welsh club dominated the opening 20 minutes, taking the lead when a Cardiff forward dribbled through five Hereford players to slot the ball into the net.
Hereford marginally improved, with Chris Weale firing wide, and they drew level when Amos smashed home a rare corner.
Tempers frayed after the break, with each side reduced to 10 men. And, in an end-to-end half, Cardiff restored their advantage from a well-worked corner.
Hereford somehow responded and, moments before the final whistle, Amos controlled a lifted ball and again beat the Cardiff goalkeeper.
Leominster left it late to record a 4-3 win at Stroud.
Steve Mumford and Dave Harvey gave Leominster a 2-0 interval advantage, only for Stroud to hit back with three goals after the break.
But goals in the last 10 minutes from Jon Morgan and Mo Hazleman secured the Herefordshire club a morale-boosting win.
Hereford 3rd gained an impressive 3-2 win against a much younger Aber-gavenny side.

Hereford Veterans opened their new season with an exciting 5-4 defeat against visiting Shrewsbury.

Hereford Veterans have entered teams in the EHA Veterans' Cup and Vintage Cup competitions.
They will entertain Southampton-based Trojans in the Vintage Cup on November 4 and travel to Bath Buccaneers in the Veterans' Cup on November 11.
