LIFE has suddenly become more fun for little Sarah Powell of Kington. The 10 year-old, who was born profoundly mentally and physically handicapped has a new form of transport and a special toy she can play with by herself.

It came about through the generosity of Neil Clark, sales manager with a timber company who also lives in Kington.

He went to Borneo to face a variety of physical challenges in a national charity fund raising event.

Neil was one of seven out of 30 people to successfully complete the four challenges, climbing Kinabula, the highest mountain in south east Asia, cycling 180 kilometres in its foothills, white water rafting and scuba diving in the Indian Ocean.

At the end of it he was able to keep one third of the £2,500 he raised in sponsorship to help a local child.

Neil chose Sarah, who lives with her mother and father Jane and Dave Powell and eight year-old sister Emma in Bradnor View Close. The family decided on a much-needed all terrain vehicle and a bubble tube.

"We like to take Sarah with us where-ever we go and the new pushchair makes it so much easier,'' said Jane who works as a receptionist at the GP surgery in the town.

The bubble tube gives Sarah hours of pleasure. She can activate it with a switch and loves the movement of the bubbles as they change colour.

Jane, and her husband Dave, a local landscape gardener said they would like to thank Neil, and all those who sponsored him, for his generosity.

Neil was grateful too for the people who supported him.

"The year was taken up in training and raising money and I would like to give special thanks to Hean Studios at Kingsland, C. Brewer and Sons and Simpson and Drew of Kington,'' he said.
