ASPIRING Herefordshire folk musicians can get help in establishing their career under a new scheme launched across the other side of the Malvern Hills.
'Passing Notes', a scheme being launched by Worcester's Huntingdon Hall, is a unique training opportunity for young musicians to be linked with experienced, established professionals who will give them advice guidance and support.
There will be other training opportunities as well as practical experience of performing and leading workshops.
Top folk artists who have already agreed to become mentors on the scheme include karen Tweed, Joe Broughton, Kellie While, Chris Wood and Andy Cutting.
The scheme is looking for young folk musicians age 18-25, with a high standard of folk musicianship and the energy and commitment to make it through to the professional ranks. This two-year project will work with five young musicians in each year and is initially seeking two individual instrumentalist, one singer and one instrumental duo.
Renowned folk musician Ashley Hutchings said: "This is a great scheme. It will offer opportunities for young musicians to get real insight into how working folk musicians deal with a changing music world."
