NICK DOWNES, a Bromyard school pupil, holds the trophy he recently won at the Junior Championships held at Upper Sapey Golf Course.
The 15-year-old, Year 11 pupil at Queen Elizabeth High School, said he started playing golf last year, following his father and uncle who are both keen golfers.
Downes shot a nett 68 to lift the title two shots clear of Mark Williams (70) who was followed by Jamie Briggs (73).
He had not decided how to spend the £25 prize money but said his immediate aim was to reduce his 18 handicap and develop his interest in the sport. Playing three times a week should help no end.
