A LOCAL historian in Newent is looking for information about a German who was a prisoner of war in the area.
Eric Warde is a member of Newent Local History Society, which is putting together a book entitled Chapters in Newent History.
He is in charge of the section devoted to the Second World War.
He said: "I'm trying to get in touch with a German prisoner of war who was held in the area and stayed on, or his family.
"I don't even know his name but he had a daughter called Anna who went to John Masefield High School in Ledbury, worked at the Beauchamp Arms in Dymock for a while and graduated from Royal Holloway College in London.
Anyone who can help is urged to contact Mr Warde on 01531 820306.
Mr Warde is also on the lookout for any other wartime memories. He has already found a Lancaster bomber pilot who made 11 missions to Berlin, a soldier who parachuted into Arnhem and a nurse who served in North Africa and Burma.
