Bromyard Town 4 Harrow Hill 3
THERE were five goals in a pulsating last 20 minutes as Bromyard held on to win their first ever match in the FA Carlsberg Vase.
They were never behind as they overcame their Hellenic League Premier Division opponents in an evenly-balanced second qualifying round tie.
Bromyard appeared to be coasting into the first round proper when they opened up a two-goal lead for the first time on the stroke of normal time, but a defensive mix-up gifted their Forest of Dean opponents an own goal to ensure a tense final few minutes.
Town were off to a flyer when Andy Chalmers tapped in a defence-splitting left-wing cross from Luke Willets to open the scoring. Harrow Hill responded and levelled the tie when Neil Cornish caught goalkeeper Jamie Lambert flat footed from a 25-yard free-kick.
Scott Morris went close to restoring the lead on three occasions, all headers, but the score stayed locked at 1-1 at the break.
The Bromyard defence came under pressure in the second half but Darren Gwynne restored their lead with a header 20 minutes from time. The visitors were level again two minutes later through Bobby Clarke.
With extra time looming, Town struck two quick blows with Willetts twice taking advantage of openings created by Morris.
Then, after seeing their lead halved from an own goal, the home team hung on for the final few moments.
