Hereford 4 Leominster 3
HEREFORD'S Colin Amos snapped up a hat-trick in this hard-fought local derby at the City Sports Club.
Amos broke the early deadlock, slipping the ball past the visiting goalkeeper, only for Leominster to increase their momentum and score an equaliser.
Hereford stepped up a gear after the break, with Amos firing home from a short corner, but again the city club sat back and allowed Leominster to draw level.
With Leominster's confidence growing, Hereford had to battle and Richard Edwards' deflected effort put the city club 3-2 in front.
Hereford's defence was soon exposed again, however, and Leominster grabbed their third leveller of an action-packed friendly.
But, with time running out, Amos rounded a defender and pushed the ball past the Leominster goalkeeper to score the winning goal.
Hereford 3rd opened their season with a 3-2 win at Abergavenny. Against a much younger squad, Hereford created a number of openings and were rewarded with a double strike by Richard Jones and a goal from Malcolm Rogers.
l A five-week elite coaching course for players wanting to improve their skills starts at Leominster's Bridge Street Sports Centre this Monday from 7pm. More details about the sessions are available from Roger Furniss on 01584 874205.
