VOLUNTEERS were playing a vital role in running community services over a wide area, Leominster MP Bill Wiggin learned last week.
Mr Wiggin visited the Broad Street headquarters of Voluntary Action North Herefordshire where he heard about the work of its community transport scheme, volunteer bureau and other initiatives.
The MP heard that rural outreach and community focus workers were aiding a range of local groups with on issues such as training and funding. A youth support worker was now in place to provide extra opportunities for young people in Leominster, the MP was told.
Mr Wiggin said he would help to publicise the 'excellent' services when he met groups and individuals around his constituency. He asked to be kept informed about Voluntary Action's projects.
