Hereford United Director of Football Graham Turner says his side still has room for improvement -- despite their unbeaten start to the season.
Turner, who takes his side to Hayes tomorrow (3pm), is pleased with his side's four-point return from two games to date.
But he said: "I am reasonably satisfied so far but there is plenty of room for individuals to improve and for us to improve collectively, so those signs are good."
Turner is already noticing the signs of how two good results -- a 2-0 win at Kettering following a goalless home draw with Southport --have affected morale at Edgar Street. "We have started reasonably solidly and there is an air of confidence around the players and optimism throughout the club. We were disappointed not to take three points against Southport but it has been a solid start."
Tuesday's 2-0 victory at Kettering was a major plus, according to Turner.
"It was a good team performance. We were solid at the back, looked lively going forward and created a number of good chances."
Turner was also pleased at the source of the goals -- defender Chris Lane netting his first for the club in more than two seasons at Edgar Street with a 35-yarder, and new recruit Kerry Giddings scoring on his debut after coming on as substitute.
"Chris is a good striker of the ball and he should be getting his fair share of goals.
"I don't think Kerry will be in the starting line-up tomorrow but he looked very promising in the time he was on.
"It was a terrific cross from Gavin Williams which just invited a goal, and it was a good, clinical finish."
Giddings is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench tomorrow with Turner likely to stick with the same starting line-up that played against Kettering.
Defender Paul Sturgess is expected to be back in action in a month after having a cartilage operation, with Turner pleased that there were no complications.
But striker Steve Piearce has failed to shake off a thigh injury and Turner admits he is "concerned" at the latest setback for a player who missed virtually the whole of last season through injury. Fringe player John Shirley is also sidelined.
Hayes scored an impressive 3-2 win over Dover Athletic in midweek, having begun with a 2-0 defeat against Telford United at their adopted home of Worcester last week.
Turner added: "They had a terrific win in the week.
"It is never easy to go to places like Hayes, as we discovered last year."
Turner is keeping his fingers crossed that the Bulls do not pick up any more injuries with their squad already at full stretch, especially with a home clash with Northwich Victoria on Monday.
He added: "We desperately need luck with injuries. We will play the game tomorrow, take stock on Monday and get them ready for that game."
