Hereford United have been handed a surprise place in this season's Auto Windscreens Shield.
United thought they had just missed out on a place in the competition, which this season is being expanded to include eight Nationwide Conference clubs.
The Conference clubs invited were those who finished from second to seventh last season -- Hereford ended up eighth -- plus relegated Chester and Macmillan Trophy winners Doncaster.
However, Kingstonian, who finished fifth, have been rejected as their ground was not up to Football League standard.
Director of Football Graham Turner said: "We were told about five weeks ago that Kingstonian might have a problem. It's great news."
The first round draw will be made next Saturday, along with the announcement of the competition's new sponsors.
Hereford beat Kidderminster Harriers 2-0 in the Central Conference last night with goals from Steve Piearce and Andy Moran.
