Hereford United are sweating on the fitness of star striker Gavin Williams ahead of tomorrow's Nationwide Conference clash with Hayes at Edgar Street (3pm).
The highly-rated Williams, who is the Bulls' leading scorer this season with 11 goals, injured an ankle in last week's 1-0 FA Umbro Trophy victory over Dover Athletic, in which he scored the only goal.
But Director of Football Graham Turner expects him to be fit for the visit of struggling Hayes.
He said: "He took a fair bit of battering against Dover but I don't think he is being singled out for treatment -- he is that quick and sharp that people are going in for tackles and he is past them."
Providing Williams is fit, United are expected to stick to the side that beat Dover.
Former Wolves ace Steve Bull will have to wait to make his home debut for the Bulls as he has still not shaken off a hamstring injury, although Turner is hopeful he will be fit to be on the substitutes' bench for next Saturday's trip to Telford United.
Defender Tony James is still sidelined with a similar problem, joining long-term victim Paul Parry on the sidelines.
United will be confident of completing a league 'double' over Hayes, having won 2-0 away back in August with goals from Williams and Rob Elmes.
And Turner says he is delighted with their form so far in the New Year, particularly at home where they seem to have cured their drawing habit with two wins in their last three games at Edgar Street.
"We are looking all right at the moment. We haven't played badly over the last month or so.
"Even in the defeat at Northwich we played well and were unlucky not to get anything out of the game."
But he believes Hayes' position will make for a tough game tomorrow.
"Hayes are fighting for their lives down there. We are aware of that and ready for a really tough game."

Hereford have put their home clash with Woking back three days to Tuesday, February 6 (7.45) because of their FA Umbro Trophy fourth round clash at home to Leigh RMI on the Saturday.
