Hereford United are hoping that the return of Ian Wright will help solve their defensive problems.
The United skipper missed Monday's 2-2 Nationwide Conference home draw with Telford United with an ankle injury.
But he is set to return in tomorrow's home clash with Doncaster Rovers (3.00), along with midfielder Ian Rodgerson who has missed three games with a hamstring injury.
United have conceded 12 goals in their opening six games, and let a two-goal lead slip away in the Telford game, which is proving a worry to Director of Football Graham Turner, who has seen his side drop to 15th in the table, two places behind tomorrow's opponents.
He said: "There have been several contributory factors. We have not defended crosses very well and we have made a number of individual errors that have proved very costly.
"This time last year we couldn't score but looked safe at the back -- now we are scoring goals but are letting them in at the other end. We have to put that right."
Striker Leroy May is United's main doubt with an ankle injury sustained against Telford, while Paul Fewings and Paul Parry remain on the casualty list.
Defender Matt Clarke begins a two-match suspension at Yeovil next Tuesday following his sending-off in the defeat at Morecambe.
Turner hopes to re-open negotiations to bring defender Paul Sturgess to Edgar Street on a permanent basis.
The former Charlton and Brighton player has impres-sed since joining United on a month's trial, but the player has not yet committed himself to the club.
Turner added: "You are never confident totally, but we will be negotiating to keep him for a bit longer."
He says Doncaster will provide a stiff test for their former Football League rivals. "They were a good side towards the back end of last season and they have some good players."
