A HEREFORDSHIRE rock band are aiming to become the county's first international chart toppers since glam-rock band, Mott the Hoople in the 1970s.
Frantik, a Hereford-based foursome, have an interview with a London record company that promotes acts in the US.
They hope it will be a first step toward a recording contract and the realisation of their aim to break into the American music industry.
Frantik's drummer, Ian said: "Each deal is different and it may be a case of having to go over to America and being pushed by the company for a month, getting as much exposure as we can, and then talking about a deal."
Things are on a roll for Ian, vocalist and guitarist Robbie, lead guitarist Chunk and bass player Spatacus, having just finished a successful tour which included backing one of the UK's hottest acts, Top Loader in Liverpool.
The last time a Herefordshire band made waves on the international scene was when Mott the Hoople took David Bowie's song 'All the Young Dudes' to the top of the charts.
They were rated the best group in a US magazine poll during the height of their success in the mid-70s.
