MATT Clarke could be set for a surprise Hereford United recall in tomorrow's Nationwide Conference home clash with Southport (3.00).
Clarke, who was transfer-listed last week, is in line to play at centre-half with Ian Wright and James Wall both doubtful.
Skipper Wright has struggled to shake off the leg injury that forced him to come off early in last week's FA Trophy victory over Barton Rovers.
Wall, who replaced him, is doubtful with an infection.
Director of Football Graham Turner said: "We expected Ian to be fit but the injury has not responded to treatment as well as he expected.
"If he and James Wall don't make it Matt Clarke will come in at centre-half."
Otherwise United have no injury worries, with Ian Rodgerson a candidate to return to the starting line-up. He scored the winner against Barton after coming on as substitute.
United expect a bumper crowd of over 3,000 tomorrow as vouchers are being issued for tickets for next Saturday's FA Cup third round clash with Leicester City.
But Turner does not want his players thinking too far ahead, with important points to be gained against struggling Southport, who recently named Paul Lodge as their new manager in succession to Paul Futcher.
Turner added: "It is a question of focussing everybody's attentions on tomorrow.
"It is never easy to play a club just after their manager leaves. They will be fired up for it, but I am only concern-ed with how we perform."
Hereford (from): Jones, Lane, Wright, James, Sturgess, Williams, Taylor, Snape, Parry, Elmes, Fewings, Rodgerson, Wall, Clarke, May, Cotterill, Rudall.
Tickets for the Leicester game go on sale to voucher holders at Edgar Street on Sunday from 10.00am, although holding a voucher does not guarantee a ticket. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale from 12 noon.
