INJURY ravaged Hereford United suffered a setback when they lost 2-0 at home to Yeovil Town in midweek but player/coach Phil Robinson is confident the Bulls will be challenging once they have a full complement of playing staff.

Robinson was impressed with the Glovers and believed their performance illustrated the investment put into the club.

"They looked a good team and certainly reflected the type of money they have spent on wages," he said.

"But I think with a full squad of fit players we are looking to beat teams like Yeovil and compete with the best teams.

"We had six or seven players missing on Tuesday who would probably have started the game so it shows how serious the situation is."

Midfielder Jimmy Quiggin was back in action but Robinson admitted it was a gamble on his match fitness.

"He has probably played just one game pre-season and could have done with some reserve games but it shows the problems," he said.

Robinson has been buoyed by the return to action of John Shirley and Scott Voice who played in the reserves in midweek.

"It puts them back into contention but to put them straight in would be taking risks on players without games behind them," he said.

"But that is the situation at the moment and if we have to shuffle players round to fill holes that is what we have to do.

"Fortunately at the moment there is not a team running away with the league as Boston losing to Dagenham and Redbridge so when our injured players get back to fitness and we have a bigger squad to pick from then hopefully results and performances will improve."

Hereford's roll call of injuries now includes skipper Ian Wright who limped off with a groin strain during the 2-2 draw against Morecambe.
