A SUCCESSFUL football club for young people in Ledbury is looking for volunteers as the new season gets under way.
Don Rule, president of Ledbury Swifts, who recently won an international competition in Sweden, is appealing for sports enthusiasts to step forward.
He said: "There is a pressing, but not so far urgent, need for more adults to help with management and coaching.
"If you are reasonably fit, have an interest or have been active in sport, helping the Ledbury Swifts could be a way of keeping that interest alive and productive."
He said the Swifts provide healthy sporting opportunities for well over 100 youngsters aged from six to 16, and fields seven competitive league sides and three cub sides, who train and play friendly matches.
"Anyone who cares to wander down to the Ross Road Playing Field in a Sunday morning will not only be entertained with some exciting football, they will be impressed by the sporting way in which our youngsters behave.
"Their behaviour is an example to many of their adult counterparts right up to the Premier League.
"To ensure the proper care of our young people, we must have a reasonable number of accompanying adults," he said.
Each team has a manager and assistant who take responsibility for training, selection, transport and similar matters. Instruction in management or coaching is available through the club.
Anyone interested can contact Mr Rule on 01531 633703, Steve Onions on 632629 or Bob Barnes on 633722.
