SWIFTS entertained last season's champions in this U14s game.
Ledbury SWIFTS 0, LADS CLUB 10
Half way through the first half Swifts' Tim Rutherford was brought down and Dan Herbert's free kick drifted just wide of the post. After 25 minutes Lads Club took the lead when their winger picked up a long goal kick and beat Mike Hill at the near post.
Down at half time, Swifts had everything to play for, but Lads Club stepped up another gear and scored two quick goals. When a fourth rocketed into the net from distance heads went down. Swifts were then reduced to ten men due to injury and as energy ran out, Lads Club ran riot, running in six more goals with ease.
This was Swift's heaviest defeat for some time and they will hope to have a full squad available for next week's Cup game at Presteigne.
LEDBURY SWIFTS 3, WESTFIELDS 2
LEDBURY have got off to a fair start to their new U12's season, after three matches they remain unbeaten with one win and two draws.
Playing with a slightly weaker squad this season the opening match produced a 3-2 win over Westfields. Westfields took the lead only for Swifts to hit back scoring twice, but Westfields equalised minutes later. A Savager scored the winner with ten minutes to go for a well deserved win.
LEDBURY SWIFTS U11s 3, Orleton 3
AFTER last week's heavy defeat at Leominster, Swifts were looking for an improved performance at home to Orleton in this Under 11's fixture but in the first half it looked as though it would end in disappointment again as Orleton swept into a three goal lead.
The second half saw Swift come out in a more determined mood and Thomas Boyle pulled a goal back with a fine finish. This gave Swifts the spur they needed and with the defence looking much tighter Alistair Williams was getting through a lot of work in midfield and soon Chris James played a good ball down the left which put Thomas Boyle clear again to make it 3-2. Orleton relied on the offside tactic a great deal and Swifts had to work hard to overcome this but just before the final whistle Thomas Boyle latched onto a big clearance from Sam Beale and scored a deserved equaliser for their efforts.
LEDBURY SWIFTS 2, Fownhope 1
LEDBURY Swifts gained their second Under 10s win of the season in a very entertaining, but close encounter.
After a 12-1 defeat last week Fownhope were in no mood for a repeat result. Most of the first half was a battle in midfield, as both sides cancelled each other out. Swifts did create two good chances, with Savidge hitting a post, and Powell who was clean through allowed the keeper time to smother his shot. Though Fownhope had a lot of the ball, they were well held out by Davies and Nelder and Bayross in the Swifts' goal was never troubled.
Swifts started the second half a lot better and soon took the lead when Adam Davies neatly slotted home. Ledbury started to push for more goals, but were caught out five minutes later and Fownhope equalised with a well taken goal. The Swifts were rewarded for their efforts three minutes from time when Sam Peplow found space in the box to score the winning goal.
The Under 10s have no game tomorrow (Saturday0 their next match is away to Dore Valley on September 29.
