A FUNDRAISING concert for a Ledbury woman suffering from suspected mercury poisoning was a great success.
The event, at Ledbury's Parish Church on Saturday, September 8, raised nearly £1,000 to fund treatment for Katherine Gittings of Robinson's Meadow.
Mezzo-soprano Josephine Williamson and accompanist Giles Turner performed a recital entitled Summer Cocktails, which featured a mixed bag of English and Italian songs.
Organiser Pat Briddon said the concert had gone very well.
He said: "We made £300 from ticket sales and another £650 from donations, which included a single donation of £500 from one well-wisher. It was a great success."
He wants to thank all those who contributed.
The money will be used to fund treatment at the Breakspear Hospital for Allergy and Environmental Medicine in Hemel Hemp-stead, which has to be paid for privately. Miss Gittings's mother, Jean Bray of Malvern, has raised more than £25,000 over the past three years to pay for her daughter's treatment.
