FUND-RAISING -- An amazing day of fund-raising, in aid of Kings Caple Church, in many ways put the smile back on the faces of the local community. The foot and mouth problems in and around the county saw many of the fund-raising events cancelled and one of these was the traditional mid-summer church fete. A move to hold a grand charity and promise auction did, in fact, surpass all expectations. The event, held by permission of Mr and Mrs E Brooke at Lower Penalt Farm, raised a staggering £3,270. Side stalls, as well as a barbecue, all helped to swell the funds. The auctioneer on this memorable day was Mr A Davis.
GRASS CUTTING -- Kings Caple Parish Council is seeking persons to tender for grass cutting on land adjoining Kings Caple churchyard. All those interested should respond to Mr A Davis, the chairman, at Laundry Cottage, or to Philip Brandram Jones, Ingsbury, Kings Caple.
MINI-MARKET -- Another mini-market will be held at The Old School, Kings Caple, on Saturday, October 6.
