ROUNDERS' TOURNAMENT -- Three youngsters, Jade Boundford, Sarah Powell and Kelly Davies, with the help of others from Knucklas, ran a successful rounders' tournament recently. As well as the rounders, there was tombola, tennis, ice cream, a tuck shop and barbecue. The evening raised £137, which will go towards the provision of a bike and skateboard track in Knucklas and the purchase of sports equipment for the use by the community's young people. Many parents turned out in support and joined in the rounders matches. Everyone was proud of the determination of the youngsters to raise money for much-needed sports equipment. The organisers thank Steven Russell for running the barbecue, and Tanya Jones and Julie Jones for umpiring the tournament. The youngsters had already organised a football evening and the funds from that event helped the community centre management committee to buy a tennis net. The next event will be an evening of indoor games.

SCOUTS -- Knucklas Scouts went on a five-night camp at Waddecar Scout Camp in West Yorkshire recently. They enjoyed abseiling, shooting and archery, and even the leaders had a go.They visited Morecombe, Blackpool, where they experienced the 'Pepsi Max', and went swimming. They spent also spent a day at the Camelot Theme Park. In the evenings on camp, the youngsters enjoyed a wide range of activities, including a barbecues, games, tug-of-war, dri ski races. fishing and assault courses.

Scout Troops from Bolton and Manchester were also at Waddecar and the Knucklas Scouts made many new friends. Among the Scouts from Manchester was an already familiar face, Gary -- who plays the part of Wayne in 'Coronation Street' and who also appeared in the film 'East is East'.
