SHORT MAT BOWLS -- Short mat bowls continues to draw interest from the local community and it is hoped a St Weonards club with its own bowls committee will be soon set up. At present, members from the Sellack parish club are getting regular practice nights started at St Weonards. The next indoor short mat bowls practice/roll up session, which is played on a special carpet nearly four metres long (45ft), will be on Tuesday, September 25, with a 7.30pm start. Two other dates for bowls sessions at St Weonards have been arranged for Wednesday, October 10, and Saturday, October 27. Both start at 7.30pm and everyone is welcome to attend.
