Wellington 1 Walsall Wood 1

TOM Herbert netted a fine first-half goal as Wel-lington extended their unbeaten run in the West Midlands League Premier Division to five games.

A measure of the change in fortune of the team was shown by their disappointment at not making it five straight wins after wasting a number of gilt-edged chances and then conced-ing a late penalty.

The home team domi-nated the first half and took the lead when Her-bert strode onto a through ball from Joe Parker and netted in emphatic style. They continued to create chances and would have taken a stranglehold on the match had Peter Wallace and Jerry Griffiths not missed four sitters.

The second period was a more even contest with neither side creating many chances but the visitors did grab an equaliser 10 minutes from time. Parker was penalised for pushing in the area and they gratefully slotted home the penalty.
