THE Ross-on-Wye pairing of Julia Wilde and Joan Malim continued their successful run in the Glopucester County Championships when they snatched a last green quarter-final victory over a Tewkesbury Park pair.
They will now face opposition from Bristol and Clifton in October for a place in the final.
Jean Reynolds shot a round of 80-7-73 to win both the Cinderford Cup and the Mary Beavis Cup.
The Cinderford Cup for lower handicap players was a one round competition in which she ended up two shots clear of Vanessa Watson, 93-18-75, and Beryl Newnham, 89-14-75. Watson took second place due to a better back nine.
The Mary Beavis Cup is a 36-hole gross competition and Reynolds showed her consistency as she added her second round 80 to a first round 81 which was completed a week earlier. Her winning total of 161 was five shots ahead of Joan Malim who had led after the first round stage with a 79. Margaret Davies finished third, a further four strokes adrift.
The Bronze Cup for higher handicaps was a tense affair with Sheila Jackson 95-23-72 pipping Julia Wilde 97-25-72 on the back nine and Elspeth Metcalfe, 97-21-76, finishing third.
Audrey Marfell won the silver division of a stableford qualifier with 35 points and playing partners Hilary Parrott and Julia Wilde spurred one another on to fill the top two places in the bronze division with 42 and 39 respectively.
Di Honey and Amanda Marshall will contest the final of the Summer Knockout Competition after completing semi-final wins over Debbie Woods and Deirdre Keay respectively.
n Joan Dukes had double cause for celebration after Burghill Valley's September Medal and LGU Pendant. She recorded the best gross round of the day, 84, which included a hole in one at the third hole. Phillida Barnett was the nett winner with 66.

n A field of 116 braved the rain and wind to compete in the Sapey Ladies' Open Foursomes. The best gross-score of 86 was posted by the Herefordshire GC pairing of Jo Haines and Emily Harris.

n Geraldine Kelly produced the longest drive and carded the best gross score of 88 when Leominster held their Lady Captain's Day. Joan Hunt, 96-21-75, pipped Kath Card by one shot to take the Erinsgold Cup for the best nett score for lower handicappers. Liz Moore, 115-37-78, won the Lettie Kurhan trophy for 36-plus handicaps.
Wendy Lawrenson and Pat Owen were nearest the pin at the sixth and 14th holes respectively.
Joan Hunt was also in fine form in the Fred Dobson Trophy. She teamed up with John Hastie to win the greensome stableford competition with 44 points, two clear of runners-up Leslie Turbett and Bill Browne, who pipped Carol Gardner and Ron Brisland on a countback.
Leominster recorded a convincing win in their mixed friendly with Burghill Valley at Ford Bridge.
