'OUTSIDE In', the latest exhibition at Parkfields Gallery at Pontshill, brings together a divergent group of artists, who each bring the 'outside' natural world 'in' to the gallery.
On entering the tranquil grounds, one is greeted by Forest of Dean artist Nigel Cann's 'standing stones'. Nigel has taken his inspiration from prehistoric megaliths but goes one step further in his design by carving out sections of the stone and introducing windows of coloured, layered glass.
Within the gallery itself, the diversity of the artists' work creates a rich feast of delights with a distinct Eastern feel.
Christine Meyer-Eaglestone's superb marquetry work makes an immediate bold statement andJames Fotheringhume's delicate watercolours provide a direct contrast.
An exotic touch is added by Frances St Clair Miller's etchings with 'keyhole' vistas of Moorish palaces, which are complemented by Edward Bowen's stoneware and raku ceramics.
Coleford artist Maureen Watkins adds to the exhibition with her stoneware owls, each with their own character and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, while Katie Eastaugh's floral decorations grow and climb the surface of her pots.
The 'Outside In' exhibition is now open and will run until October 29. For further information telephone 01989 750138 or visit www.parkfieldsgallery.co.uk
