Ledbury Town fielded a weakened side through injuries and suspension for this Express & Star West Midland Premier Division game on Saturday and this showed in the resulting play.
LEDBURY TOWN 3, DARLASTON 1
Darlaston worked hard and pressurised Ledbury throughout creating an end to end match although it was never really a spectacle.
Darlaston went close on numerous occasions before Ledbury took the lead with a crisply hit half volley from Nick Welch but other chances were missed for Ledbury before half time.
The second half saw Darlaston once again forcing the pace, however poor finishing left them with no reward. Ledbury came back and started to break down the away defence with good passing play all round and it gave Robbie Colwell the chance to increase the lead for Ledbury with a good low shot.
Minutes later more good Ledbury movement allowed Stuart Hall to put the ball through for Colwell to calmly place the ball beyond the advancing keeper for his tenth goal of the season.
The final minute saw Lewis Skyers, who was having a great game deputising in goal, come to claim the ball in his area and clash with a visiting forward resulting in a penalty which was duly converted.
Ledbury squad: Lewis Skyers, Pete Brown, Lee Clueit, Michael Panter, Steve Powell, Jon Ralph, Mark Herbert, Stuart Hall, Nick Welch, Robbie Colwell, Ian Stewart, Martin Punt, Dave Morris, Toan Ravenscroft, Chris Powell.
