Bromyard'S mayor and mayoress have been invited cheer on the town's soccer team in the most important game of their careers on Saturday, September 22.
Since being promoted to the Express and Star West Midland (Regional) League Premier Division over a year ago, the Royal Town Football Club are now eligible to play for the FA Carlsberg Vase.
For their first match in the competition, the team will be playing Harrow Hill, members of the Cherry Red Hellenic Division in Gloucestershire.
Club secretary Tony Haverfield said: "This is the biggest competition that Bromyard's ever been in. At our level, this is the equivalent to the FA Cup. Ultimately, we could end up with a cup final at Aston Villa and a large monetary prize.
"We would like to win this match on the 22nd, to get into the first round proper. We started off the season very well and won two out of our first three games. However, after our manager Martin 'Chalkie' White went on holiday, we lost the next four. Hopefully, he has come back with a big stick and will get the team back up to scratch.
"We've invited the mayor and mayoress and are optimistic that they will come and watch the match to give us a boost."
