THE Hereford Diocese has expressed 'delight tempered with sadness' at the news that the Bishop of Ludlow, Rt. Rev. John Saxbee, is to become the next Bishop of Lincoln.
The Bishop of Hereford, Rt. Rev. John Oliver, paid tribute to his friend and colleague, saying: "John's ministry has been enthusiastic, liberal, evangelistic, rigorous and warm-hearted.
"We shall miss him and (wife) Jackie very much indeed. We have reason to be immensely grateful to both of them for their contribution to diocesan life."
Of his New Year installation, Rt. Rev. John Saxbee, said: "My feeling is the past is a good servant but a poor learner. It is time to go forward. Christianity is about God's future."
Bishop John will be preaching at Hereford Cathedral for the last time at the Road Peace Service on Sunday November 18, followed by his Farewell Service at St Lawrence's, Ludlow, on Sunday December 9.
