OLD Herefordians - for students of Hereford Cathedral School - reached the final of the Brewers Company Cricket Cup in their first season in the competition.
The final of the cup, which is a national competition for public schools old boys, was at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes where Old Herefordians were beaten by 69 runs by Old Aldenhamians.
Aldenhamians totalled 280-7 in their 55 overs and then bowled out Herefordians for 211, of which Stephen Price scored 86.
The team was skippered by Richard Skyrme, the former Herefordshire captain who is now a teacher at the school. All the other team members had been coached by Andy Connop, master in charge of cricket since 1985.
