Hereford & County Athletic Club hope a £5,000 Lottery windfall will boost their membership, both on and off the track.
The Hereford Leisure Centre-based club have bought essential equipment needed to retain competitive events at their headquarters.
Money from the National Lottery Awards For All grant has been spent on a new set of pole vault stands, judges and timekeeper stands, and training equipment for under -11 javelin and shot putt athletes.
Cash is also being used to train new athletics coaches and officials, and to provide help for teams travelling to competitions in South Wales and the Midlands.
The club meets every Tuesday and Thursday at the city track from 6.30pm and would welcome new members.
