A RELIEF manager got more than he bargained for when an armed robber held up the Hereford post office he was running.
The owners of Eign Road Post Office were absent on holiday last Friday, September 7, when a man in a dark woollen hat posing as a customer pulled a hand gun on a female counter assistant and demanded cash.
There were no other customers inside the post office at 12.40pm when the robbery happened and the two staff co-operated with the gunman's demands.
The robber made off on foot with an undisclosed, substantial sum of cash.
He was last seen running along Clive Street and into Portfield Street. It is not known whether he got into a vehicle to complete his escape.
Police a very keen to speak to a possible witness to the robbery, a man who was outside the post office and saw the robber running away.
The robber is described as a white male in his late 20's to early 30's between 5'5" to 5'6" tall and of stocky build.
He was washed blue denim jacket, woollen hat and is believed to have dark or black hair which was showing at the front.
