IT was a familiar face that sat at the organ in Hereford Cathedral last week.
Seven years after his last service, Geraint Bowen, met up with Hereford Cathedral Junior School choristers, on his return as organist and choirmaster.
Geraint had been assistant to recently retired organist and choirmaster of 27 years Roy Massey from 1989 to1994.
"My main challenge of the job is maintaining and building on the standards Roy Massey maintained over his years here," said Geraint.
It is too soon to say how requests for girls to join the choir will be answered, but discussions are planned to take place over the next few months.
Geraint's move to Hereford with wife Lucy and sons Gwillyam and Ruairi, who are choristers at St Paul's, comes after a successful career at St David's Cathedral in Wales.
