BOWLS -- A committee meeting of Sellack Bowls Club took place at the Yew Tree Inn, Peterstow, recently. Much was discussed by the committee members, many of whom were in their new officer appointments, after the annual meeting in mid summer. Jean Moriss, this coming season's club skipper, had a tremendous summer on the outside game, notably winning the ladies' singles. She will now go forward to play in the Gloucester champion of champions tournament.
The Herefordshire short mat season officially starts at the beginning of October, but the Sellack doubles internal club league gets under way on Sunday, September 30. Last season brothers, Nigel and David Skyrme, won the competition at the ages of 14 and 19, respectively. Nigel Skyrme was unanimously elected to be this season's vice-captain for the Sellack club and the team is looking forward to a new era in its history, playing its competitive matches at St Weonards Village Hall where several of the nearby residents are showing interest in the bowls game.
