THE Co-op is supporting the beleagured hill farming community in Wales, hit by the continued ban on exports due to the foot-and-mouth outbreak.
Co-op stores are selling small Welsh hill lamb to help reduce the glut of two million small hill lambs on the market.
The lamb would normally have been exported to Mediterranean countries and all major retailers have been asked to assist in the marketing of lamb, in addition to DEFRA's package of measures announced recently.
