A SHOOTING day aimed at teaching young people to handle firearms responsibly is to be held in Herefordshire during June - in spite of looming laws to ban such events.
The British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) will be training around 30 youngsters, aged 10 to 17, in basic safety and legal aspects of the sport at Hereford Shooting School on June 10. The BASC admits, however, that the day is taking place in defiance of recent recommendations of a Home Affairs Committee, which has stated that no one under the age of 14 should be able to handle a gun, even under the supervision of an adult.
