A FORMER chief inspector of Herefordshire Police has died, aged 88.
Reginald Kendle, of Sedgefield Road, had retired in 1966, having joined the county force in 1935 and served for three decades.
A short break from the force saw him join the army during the Second World War, in which time he rose through the ranks to captain.
Back in police uniform, he became detective sergeant at Ross and then inspector in the Southern Division before being made chief inspector.
