The exhibition, from November 1-29, will feature successful contributions to 'Photos for the Future 2', The History Channel's national photographic project which has just been launched for the second year.

The initiative's aim is to create a lasting visual record of the lives of ordinary people. The competition is open to all ages with prizes of video cameras, cameras and merchandise for the best photographs.

Entrants should submit a photograph that captures a moment in history by either selecting a snap from the family album or taking one of their own. Each photograph should be accompanied by a caption of up to 100 words stating why it is of personal and historic value and why it will be of interest to future generations.

Categories for entry are childhood, fashions, inventions, town and country life, war and peace and year 2000. Entry forms are available from libraries, by calling 0800 44 88 88 or at www.thehistorychannel.co.uk. Entries close on July 21.

"We are delighted to be involved in The History Channel's 'Photos for the Future 2'," said Leominster librarian Peter Holliday.

"We hope local people will see this as a great opportunity to record their personal history for future generations," he added.
